Explore technique in a thoughtful & highly physical way that cultivates and provides tools for artistry. Daily sessions will include technique with the Artistic Directors and Company members, as well as Company Repertory.

 

Additional events will include evening sessions of improvisation, dance-making, and discussions designed to deepen participants' embodied practice.

 

Dancers can attend online or in-person, Week 1, Week 2, or both weeks.

Black Label Movement is a Minnesota dance company that makes intensely physical, intellectually and emotionally engaging movement-driven art that examines and engages to inspire vivid lives.

  • We will be socially distancing in the studios. Space is limited.

  • Enrollment for in-person option is open until we reach capacity. 

  • Enrollment for online dancers will remain open until the intensive begins.

  • Online dancers will be integrated into the in-person track with an additional dedicated Teaching Assistant guiding online students.

Tuition and Scholarship


Tuition: In-person, Full Program (July 19 - 31): $1000 + $50 Registration Fee
In-person, Week 1 (July 19 - 23): $550 + $50 Registration Fee
In-person, Week 2 (July 26 - 31): $550 + $50 Registration Fee
Online Full Program (July 19 - 31): $550 + $50 Registration Fee Online Week 1 (July 19 - 23): $300 + $50 Registration Fee
Online Week 2 (July 26 - 31): $300 + $50 Registration Fee Online Drop-ins (July 19 - 23, 26 - 30): $15
College Students: for-credit opportunities will be available when you register. Registration is non-refundable. A tuition refund will only be considered by written cancellation before July 15, 2021. Scholarship: Limited merit- and need-based tuition scholarships are available for eligible dancers, but cannot be used with additional discounts. Scholarship does not apply to housing, meal plans, etc. Scholarship announcements will be made within 2 weeks of submission and will be awarded until all funds have been distributed. Limón believes deeply in community and makes every effort to allow access to all dancers to their intensives. Scholarships generally range from $100 - $200. Scholarship application is part of the registration process and includes submitting a 90-second or less link to your dancing in a class or performance, as well as a 100 word or less description of your need for scholarship. Housing is not provided at Limón Twin Cities. A list of recommended hotels within 3 miles of Barker Center and under $125 per night are available here. Be sure to mention that your stay is affiliated with the University of Minnesota for a possible discount. Online marketplaces that provide accommodations such as Airbnb are also recommended. Location


Dancers will have the option to attend Limón Twin Cities either on the campus of the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis, or online as a Home Edition. For our in-person participants:
Barker Center, where classes will take place, is located at 500 21st Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55454. The closest airport is Minneapolis-Saint Paul International (MSP).
Ground transportation from the airport includes Rental Car, Taxi, Bus & Rideshare Services, and Light Rail Transit. The light rail stop is 3 blocks from the dance building. Housing is not provided at Limón Twin Cities. A list of recommended hotels within 3 miles of Barker Center and under $125 per night are available here. Be sure to mention that your stay is affiliated with the University of Minnesota for a possible discount. Online marketplaces that provide accommodations such as Airbnb are also recommended. For our online participants: Online dancers will fully integrate into classes with face to face dancers, and will receive individualized feedback from dedicated faculty. A good WiFi connection is essential. Large spaces / dance studios are not necessary to attend, but are recommended to enhance your experience, if available to you.

Entry requirements for Limón Twin Cities


There is not an audition to attend this intensive.
This intensive will be geared for the intermediate / advanced dancer. Dancers must be 16 or above. Consideration for dancers younger than 16 will only be made on a case by case basis, prioritizing dancers who have had 4+ years of rigorous technique, and preferably previous experience with the Limón technique or other modern & contemporary dance styles. Limón Twin Cities and its in-person participants will be strictly adhering to the COVID 19 protocols provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and required by the University of Minnesota.
