Tess McCharen

(she / her)

Originally from Los Angeles, Tess began her formal dance training at the age of 14 at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, which was under the direction of Janes Fayette and Jenifer Ringer at the time. There she was introduced to and fell in love with modern dance and studied Cunningham and Horton extensively under the head of the modern department, Tamsin Carlson. After moving to New York City at 19, she spent time training at Peridance Capezio Center and freelancing before discovering Limón and participating in their Launch Program, where she was first introduced to the technique and principles. Tess has performed works by Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, Martha Graham, George Balanchine, Larry Kegwin, Katherine Helen Fischer, and more. She was invited to join L2 in January of 2021, and is beyond excited to be part of the Limón family.
