Deepa Liegel (she/her)
Deepa Liegel joined the Limón Dance Company in 2021. She was born in Kolkatta, India and raised in Seatte, Washington. She trained at Cornish College of the Arts’ Preparatory Dance Program, Leela Kathak Dance, under Guru Urmila Nagar and with Seattle Theatre Group. She received her BFA and minor in Arts Management from Southern Methodist University. Formerly, Deepa worked for Mark Morris Dance Group, the Metropolitan Opera and Dance Lab NY. Other highlights include: Erosions, a film by Site-Specific Dances, Parisa Khobdeh Dance, Broadway Bares - a BC/EFA fundraiser, The Beast by Delta Rae, Megan Williams Dance and STG’s Dance This. Deepa is current faculty at the Limón Institute and has taught at Steps on Broadway, Western Washington University, and across the country. In addition to teaching, Deepa restages Limón repertory, working from Washington to Texas and is the Licensing Associate for the José Limón Dance Foundation.
